The Yancey County Schools Foundation is a not for profit organization dedicated to the improvement of Yancey County Schools. The Internal Revenue Service 501 (c) (3) status was designated in August 1996

Mission statement:

To promote educational excellence in Yancey County Schools by providing a means to secure and distribute funds from sources such as businesses, industry, civic clubs, educational groups and individuals. The foundation shall be a vehicle to support creative and innovative academic programs and learning activities in our elementary and secondary schools.
